Enclosed in a meander of the Lot, dominated by rocky hills, Cahors , Gallo-Roman city, preserves intact the traces of its rich past, prestigious monuments of which the most famous is the bridge Valentré . A route named the Trait d'Union, leaving from the old town, made of brass scallops inlaid in the ground, bring you to the Valentré bridge. This is a stretch of the road to St Jacques de Compostelle which has just been classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco as part of the St Jacques trail.
